Vivacious Vivian

UPDATE: Vivian found a forever family!

Author C.S Lewis once said, “There are far better things ahead than any we leave behind.”  I like to think that’s absolutely true in any instance for anyone, two legs or four.

I absolutely believe that to be the truth for Vivian, a 5-year-old Coonhound, Blue Tick mix who is anything but ordinary. Vivian was a stray who was picked up by another facility. As always, we like to help out our fellow shelters as often as we can. When the facility reached out about Vivian, and a handful of other dogs that were out of time, we happily took them without a second thought. That’s what we’re here for, when one kennel door closes another one opens.

Being a stray, Vivian’s history is a mystery, and that’s part of her charm. When people come in to visit her, they hear her baying in her kennel, howling at any new passerby. All she’s asking for is attention. She’s lonely, longing for love.

I love the look she gives me when I come in, in the morning. She’s always eager and ready to start a new day. Her morning pep is encouraging and always convincing of the importance I grab a couple of her famous Vivian hugs before I get into the hustle and bustle of shelter life. There’s not a place in the world I’d rather be, and that’s because of dogs like Vivian who just have that something about them that makes them unique.

I always want one more hug, one more moment, because Vivian is unforgettable. She’s a one of a kind dog who deserves the best. I don’t know what her life was like before coming to us, I hope it was nice. If it wasn’t, this is her new start and I see nothing but a loving family in her future.

Volunteer Lori & Vivian

While she may be 5-years-old, you’d never know by her looks. As I mentioned, she loves hugging. She’s also got a spot she favors for scratches behind her right ear and enjoys lots of good snuggles.  She walks well on a leash, knows sit, and would be a wonderful addition to any home. Vivian is more of a people’s dog and would prefer to be the only apple of your eye.

Life is full of adventure. It takes us on many winding roads and to places we’ve never been. Vivian’s life adventure has lead her to us and were meant to find her the end to this long journey so she can start a new one. Are you her next adventure?

Come meet our vivacious Vivian. She’s here waiting!
