Something magical has indeed returned to the Humane Society of Northeast Georgia (HSNEGA)! October is Adopt-a-Shelter-Dog Month and the HSNEGA rescues have returned to PAWgwarts. They’ve also been cast to star in the movie, Hairy Pawter and the Bark Park of Secrets (watch the trailer below)!

How to Experience the Magic

As you walk into HSNEGA’s Adoption Center, grab a handful of Floo Powder from the jar next to the door (please pretend), speak clearly and say, “Bessie B’s” while simultaneously throwing down the Floo Powder. Green flames should appear, ok those are already there, but the green flames mean the Floo Powder has worked. Open the door and, “POOF!” you’re transported to the HSNEGA Bessie B’s store where you can purchase all of your basic adoptions supplies. After you stroll through Bessie B’s, you’ll happen upon some friendly spiders. They’ll lead you down the corridor to PAWgwarts (HSNEGA’s Large Dog Adoption Center). There, you’ll find all of the magical pups in their dormitories, practicing their “pupcraft” and “muttistry” so they can graduate from PAWgwarts an into a forever home.

Each rescue has been sorted into one of the four PAWgwarts houses: Gryffindog, Hufflefluff, Slobberin and Ravenpaw. House traits are listed below. Each house will also be in the running to win the House Bowl which will be announced at the end of the month! The House Bowl is a friendly competition between the four houses where rescues will earn points for things like being a playgroup rock star, knowing basic commands like sit, being cute and lovable, and being friendly and playful. Keep an eye out on special Instagram stories (@humanesocietynega) for fun pictures and videos of rescues earning their points! There will also be fun weekly surprises and giveaways to those who adopt during Adopt-a-Shelter-Dog Month! Not to mention adoption fees for dogs 4 months and older are 25% off* for all of October and a select few have also been chosen to have their adoption fees 50% off!! Traits of the Four PAWgwarts Houses

⚡Gryffindogs are courageous, daring, brave and chivalrous. They are bold but modest about it. Gryffindogs will stand up for you and will always have your back. Gryffindogs are always up for some fun and make excellent adventure buddies!

🐾Hufflefluffs are hard workers, patient, just, and loyal. They might be shy or unique. Hufflefluffs might need a little more love and attention but they are devoted and will be your best friend for life. Just be ready for lots of belly rubs and kisses!

🌟Slobberins are ambitious, cunning, leaders, and are resourceful. They like to show off a little because they know what they’re good at and don’t mind being the center of attention. They’re natural-born leaders and do best when they feel in check with their surroundings.

📚Ravenpaws are smart, creative, fast learners, and witty. They love to show you their improvements and what they’ve learned at any chance given. Ravenpaws can also be quite quirky making them one-of-a-kind.
