National Veterinary Technician Appreciation Week October 11-17, 2020

October 11-17, 2020 is National Veterinary Technician Appreciation Week!

Comforting a rescue.

The HSNEGA technicians are kind, caring, compassionate and want only what is best for the animals in our care. They are here to assist in educating our community and the communities surrounding Hall County. They inform people about the benefits of keeping their animals fully vaccinated, prevention for heartworms and fleas, and spaying and neutering their pets.

This is not just a paycheck for our technicians/assistants. Our team comes to work each day for the pure joy they receive from helping the animals and their owners/adopters. Most of the team, over time, have formed bonds with each animal that walks in HSNEGA’s door. They are able to tell you special tidbits about almost every animal here! And, it’s not just animals within the shelter. Even with the vast amounts of clients HSNEGA technicians encounter, a lot of the staff are still able to remember the first time a patient visited HSNEGA’s Healthy Pet Clinic.

They are here to not only assist the Veterinarian but also bring peace and love to the animals around us. Comforting them, giving the animals and even their owners a sense of acceptance and patience is just one of the many things vet techs/assistants do. Many people may think our job is just playing with puppies and kittens every day. It’s more than that, and at times, not all warm wags and smiles. They always have to be five steps ahead. Checking vitals on three animals at a time, restraining 150-pound dogs for vaccines that they think are bees stinging them, and monitoring surgical patients under anesthesia (just to name a few!). Don’t forget, they also give attention to the misunderstood shelter pet that doesn’t understand why they are here and wants to find their forever family!

Giving extra love.
Preparing for surgery.

HSNEGA’s technicians are driven to always do better. They strive to learn new things every day in this ever-changing world. They are always learning new ways to educate themselves and the people they encounter. HSNEGA even has technicians that are bilingual in order to better serve every aspect of our clientele, community, and those that are eager to learn so that they too can help.

It is not a job. It is a passion. A love of animals. A love of their nonfurred parents. A love of educating and teaching those around us. Today, and every day, I want to THANK YOU for all that you do for our rescues and the community. Happy National Veterinary Technician Appreciation Week!

Give with Confidence

At HSNEGA, we want to remember the amazing rescues that come to stay with us. All of the animals pictured on this site have been with us at some point. Some have already found their forever homes, but some may still be here at HSNEGA!
