My Friend Harley

UPDATE: Harley has found her forever home!

This is my friend Harley, a 5-year-old Terrier mix.

Harley came to HSNEGA almost a year ago in August of 2017. She became a longer-tenured rescue, awaiting her adoption until almost Christmas! She was adopted in November 2017 and had a family for 8 months until something changed and they had to bring our sweet Harley girl back.

I was super excited when she found her new home, we even snapped a selfie together before she left. Harley is the most patient, kind, loving, gentle dog I have ever met. If I could take another dog into my home, I’d take Harley hands down. She knows how to sit and lay down. She’s gentle on a leash, housebroken, and always up for a good cuddle.

Our Harley girl is patient. She’s waited a while before and I know she has the strength do it again. She knows her forever family is are out there. My only hope for this sweet older girl is that her next family loves her endlessly and knows that they are lucky because dogs like Harley are one in a million.

We do not get angry, or upset when rescues come back to us. We like to thank the people who gave them a chance. Older dogs like Harley stay with us longer because people feel like dogs over 4 years are “old” and “lazy” that they have no life left in them. But they’re wrong. Harley loves to play, maybe not as much as some of her friends but she’s got a fire inside that ignites when you provide the spark. Harley and I know that her forever family is out there and we’ll wait patiently.

If you were to come meet Harley, she would look at you from inside her kennel, wiggling her whole body with excitement. She might bark, she might not but she’ll give you kisses if you put the back of your hand to her kennel door.

Please come meet my friend Harley and her rescue pals at HSNEGA’s Adoption Center Tuesday-Saturday from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm and Sunday 12:00 – 5:00 pm.
