Captain Hook – Ahoy there, adoptions!

UPDATE: Captain Hook found a forever home!

It’s been a few months since Ava’s last installment of, “Ava’s Rescue Pals.” For those who don’t know, Ava is a dedicated HSNEGA Volunteer. She viewed a video last summer of another young rescue volunteer on social media who gets rescues adopted through his testimonial videos. Ava decided she wanted to do the same! TODAY she’s back with a very special edition of, “Ava’s Rescue Pals”!! She’s here to announce Captain Hook is now looking for her forever family!!

This is my foster kitten Captain Hook. She loves playing with toys. Her favorite toys are ones with feathers, ones she can grab onto and ones that make noise. She loves pompoms too! She would love if you read a book to her and she loves listening to peoples voices. She loves all people and she would love if you could take her home today. I was so happy that I got to foster Captain Hook, she is such a sweetheart. ~Ava

Captain Hook’s Story

Captain Hook clinging onto the hand of an HSNEGA vet assistant.

While everyone was getting ready for a long holiday weekend, this tiny kitten didn’t know if she’d live to see another day as she clung onto the hand of an HSNEGA vet assistant…

We’ll never know what happened to this poor baby, but her injuries were so shocking and horrifying we decided to not publish any of the photos. Her right hind leg was mangled and crushed, the paw completely ripped off, and her wound was infested with maggots. X-rays by our friends at Animal Medical Care confirmed Hook’s leg was beyond repair and amputation is absolutely necessary.

It’s simply a miracle that Hook is still alive. It’s heartbreaking to think of the horrendous pain she was in before he arrived at our shelter. It’s even worse to imagine how she would have ended up if there had been nowhere for her to go.

Captain Hook underwent her surgery to amputate her injured leg at HSNEGA and was up, moving around and eating well within a few short hours! With Captain Hook on track for a full recovery, she went into foster care for some TLC until she was ready to find her forever family. Captain Hook didn’t let life get in her way and loved playing with her foster family! She’s just as happy and playful as a kitten should be!!

This special kitten who has stolen the hearts of her foster family and the HSNEGA team is now ready to win the hearts of her forever family. Are you the one who will give Captain Hook the loving home she’s always deserved? Meet her at HSNEGA’s Adoption Center Tuesday-Sunday 12-6 pm, you’ll instantly fall in love!

The Humane Society of Northeast Georgia’s (HSNEGA) Adoption Center is located at 845 W. Ridge Rd, Gainesville, GA 30501. You can also visit HSNEGA.org/adopt to see all of HSNEGA’s adoptable rescues. Interested in fostering? Click HERE for more information.
