October 5, 2019: Blessing of Animals
Every year on or around October 4, Blessing of Animals services celebrate St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals. This year, the Humane Society of Northeast Georgia (HSNEGA) will be joining with Grace Episcopal Church in Gainesville, GA for the annual Blessing of Animals service on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at 4 pm.
The service will be held across the street from the Grace Episcopal campus on the front lawn of Brenau University, located in downtown Gainesville at the corner of Washington Street and Boulevard.
Pets/domestic animals of all shapes and sizes are welcome with their owners of all faiths to participate in the Blessing of Animals service; however, appropriate restraint should be provided for all animals. Owners will be responsible for pet waste. Dress is casual.
Service attendees are invited to bring donations for HSNEGA. In addition to monetary donations, in-kind items on HSNEGA’s “Wish List” are welcome including the following “most needed” items:
– dog and cat treats
– red or black KONG dog toys
– cat toys (jingle balls, wands, glitter balls, etc.)
– canned food, cat and dog (Purina One only)
– dog collars, all sizes
– liquid detergent
– 30 and 50 gallon trash bags
