The Right Spot!
"As our children have aged, they wanted the relationship only a loving dog can afford. After months of convincing by our 10-year-old son and 7-year-old daughter, we finally decided to make room at home for a furry friend that would instill confidence and responsibility in our young children.
At the end of summer 2011, when returning from visiting family in Gainesville, our family made a surprise detour on the way home and stopped by the Humane Society of Northeast Georgia. There we visited with wonderful pets of all colors and personality. The chance to spend time with the animals in a mock living room, as well as the chance to take the animals for a walk outside, gave us a clear idea of what each animal had to offer.
We were drawn to Uncle Jesse, who was almost 6 months old and had been cared for by the Humane Society since he was just weeks old. He immediately charmed all the family, so we decided to make him part of the family. His signature black spot on the top of his head gave him his new name--Spot--and the rest is history.
Our son has taken to giving lots of attention to Spot’s training and housebreaking, while our daughter is finding that dogs can be wonderful friends and naptime buddies. We are so glad that we could provide a home for a loving pet and hope more folks will start with their local Humane Society when considering bringing a dog or cat into their lives."
