Low-Cost Wellness Clinic


It's important to provide regular, basic wellness services for your pets to protect them from unnecessary illnesses.That's why HSNEGA's Wellness Clinic offers low-cost vaccinations, wellness testing and prevention products for any public cats and dogs.

Wellness Clinic hours at the shelter are Monday-Friday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. No appointment is needed for vaccines, however, appointments are needed for some tests (see below). Additionally, HSNEGA occassionally holds weekend Wellness Clinics on Saturdays to serve those who cannot come to the shelter during the week due to other commitments. NOTE: Appointments are REQUIRED for Heartworm Tests and Feline Combo Tests. Heartworm Test and Feline Combo Test appointments are available Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. To make an appointment, call 770-532-6617, Monday-Friday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Canines must be 6 months or older  for a heartworm test and felinesmust be 2 months or older for a combo test.

For the safety of your pets and the public, all dogs must be on leashes/in a carrier andall  cats must be in carriers when entering our facility. HSNEGA also reserves the right to refuse service to animals we believe are generally unhealthy, aggressive, or pose a risk to our staff and/or other animals.

*HSNEGA offers RABIES VACCINES on the following days/times:  Monday-Thursday, 10 am - 4 pm, and Fridays, the 1st and 3rd of each month.

NOTE: Though rare, allergic reactions, including vomiting, swelling, breathing difficulties, and weakness, can occur following administration of any pet vaccine. If your animal(s) experience any of these symptoms, please seek immediate veterinary attention. HSNEGA assumes no liability for reactions due to vaccinations.

Important Reminders:
Heartworm Prevention cannot be sold without a negative heartworm test first at HSNEGA or proof of a negative heartworm test elsewhere within the past 30 days. All positive heartworm tests will be urged to seek treatment at your veterinarian and will not be sold heartworm prevention.

Feline leukemia vaccines cannot be administered without a negative feline combo test first at HSNEGA, proof of a negative feline combo test result elsewhere in the past 30 days, or proof of a previous FeLV vaccine within the past 12 months.

Vaccination Schedule

Like humans, your pet’s health and happiness relies on regular vaccinations. For your convenience, here’s a schedule for both dogs and cats. 

Canine Vaccine Schedule

6-8 weeks
9-11 weeks

We also recommended puppies be de-wormed at each puppy visit. Bordetella (kennel cough) vaccines also are available for puppies and dogs who will be being boarded, groomed or visiting dog parks. The HSNEGA recommends puppies start on heatworm prevention during their puppy vaccines. Dogs are vaccinated yearly for DHP-PV and Rabies. HSNEGA offers one-year rabies vaccinations.
