What is Humane Education?
Humane Education fosters respect for all living beings on earth. At the Humane Society of Northeast Georgia, Humane Education programs are available for persons of every age and include shelter tours, classroom visits, reading programs, and Scout Badge Programs aimed at fostering the Mission of the HSHC among other things.
Shelter Tours
Tours are available for most groups containing twenty people or less. Topics discussed during tours vary, so we encourage you to contact us about options for your group.
Public Tours
Public tours of our shelter are available free of charge. Tours are scheduled every first Saturday at 3PM and every fourth Thursday at 10:30 AM. These staff guided tours explore our facility, providing information about responsible pet care, animal behavior and safety, and what to consider when choosing a pet. Visitors will learn how our staff faces the daily challenges of running a shelter. This tour is especially helpful if you are considering volunteering or have questions on how a shelter operates. Please plan on spending at least thirty minutes when touring our facility. Call the Education Coordinator at (770) 532-6617 for further information.
Scheduled Tours
Do you have a company or large group that is interested in learning more about the Humane Society? Scheduled tours are available for your large group. Whether you are looking into a service project, or your company would like to do more for our shelter, scheduled tours are available and tailored to your large group. Please contact our Education Coordinator at (770) 532-6617 for information on scheduling a tour.
