Due to demand, the Humane Society of Northeast Georgia (HSNEGA) is extending its holiday neuter special into January 2012. Originally only for appointments made during December, the special pricing—$5 off one male pet or $15 off two male pets—is now available for all pet owners who make an appointment for male neuter surgery through Friday, January 13, 2012.

Appointments for the male neuter special are available on a first-come basis by calling HSNEGA at 770-532-6617. Some restrictions apply for the male neuter surgery special. HSNEGA also offers low-cost vaccinations, rabies shots and heartworm testing at the time of surgery for an additional cost.

“Typically, we see a drop in surgeries during the holiday season because having your animal neutered is not top of mind,” says Rick Aiken, HSNEGA President. “However, neuter surgery is actually the best gift you can give—your male pets will live longer, healthier lives and you can actually save money since surgery is much less than the cost of treating health issues that can occur in male animals such as prostate cancer.”

HSNEGA’s Spay/Neuter Center offers high-quality, affordable surgery by appointment for public pet owners throughout the area; no residency restrictions apply. Costs are $60 for female dogs under 75 lbs., male and female cats and male dogs, and $80 for female dogs over 75 lbs. The Spay/Neuter Center is able to accept all sizes and breeds; however, the animals must be at least 2 pounds and/or 8 weeks old in order to have surgery.

HSNEGA’s Spay/Neuter Center is funded in part by surgery fees, but also is subsidized by grants and donations. To learn more about the Spay/Neuter Center, please contact HSNEGA at 770-532-6617 or visit www.hsnega.org.
