HSNEGA Adds New Wellness Services for Cats
The Humane Society of Northeast Georgia (HSNEGA) has announced it will be adding two new wellness services for the area’s feline pet population beginning the week of January 24, 2011: Feline leukemia vaccinations and feline combo testing.
“Since starting our on-site Wellness Clinic last year, we’ve had requests from cat owners for additional services,” says Rick Aiken, President of HSNEGA. “After looking into the costs and staffing issues, we decided it was something we could do.”
Feline combo testing, which tests for feline heartworm, FIV and feline leukemia, will be $25 and available by appointment only on Wednesdays and Fridays. The feline leukemia vaccine (FeLV) will be available for $15; however, some restrictions apply to the administration of FeLV.
HSNEGA has operated a low-cost Wellness Clinic which provides basic vaccinations and testing for dogs and cats, such as rabies vaccines and heartworm testing, as well as preventative treatments, including flea & tick and heartworm preventative, since early 2010. Services are available Tues.-Fri. from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. Most services are available with no appointment needed.
“We’ve had a good response from the community for our wellness services, especially from individuals who have not been able to afford care for their animals in the past,” Aiken continues. “We consider the health and wellness of area animals part of our ongoing mission and are glad we are able to help owners and their pets.”
HSNEGA also operates a high-quality, low-cost Spay-Neuter Center for area pet owners, as well. Surgery is available by appointment for approximately $60 per animal.
