Humane Education for Kids

Classroom Programs

Imagine an animal visit to your classroom! Humane Education programs are available free of charge. Topics range from "Play it Safe with Dogs and Cats" to "Sharing Our World with Wildlife." Please schedule your visit two week in advance, since space is limited and our schedule fills up quickly! 

Scout Programs

Our badge programs are available to all scout groups at the shelter. Dates are limited, so please call to schedule at program. Badges cost $3 each and can be substituted for items from our WISH LIST.


Puppy Movie Nights

Parents - need a night out? Let Humane Society of Northeast Georgia help! Puppy Movie Nights are great fun for dog and cat-loving, popcorn-eating, moving-watching kids! What better way to end the school week than getting cozy with canines, enjoying great G-rated animal movies, making friends with other young animal lovers, and snacking on popcorn at the HSNEGA? This is a special, fun-filled night for youth and an opportunity for parents to enjoy an evening out by themselves. Puppy Movie Nights are held on select Friday evenings from 5:30PM to 9PM and the program is geared towards children 5 and up. Program fee is $25 per participant (sibling discounts are available) and includes snacks, beverages, and craft materials. Please bring a snack dinner and pajamas, sleeping bags, and personal pillows are welcome - however, please leave your own personal pets at home. We will try our best to accommodate participants with food allergies; however, please let us know in advance if your child has special diet requirements. Birthday Party Programs

Birthday Parties 

Come party like an animal at the Humane Society of Northeast Georgia!  Birthday Parties at the HSNEGA include a shelter tour, educational activities, animal-themed crafts, and a visit from a shelter friend. Partcipants may also make a toy for our adoption animals. Parents provide food, cake or treats, and decorations- we provide the fun!

Party programs last one and half hours, requiring adult supervision. Birthday parties are held year-round, generally filling up 6-8 weeks in advance. Cost is $200 for fifteen children ages 6 years and up, including goodie bags and a T-shirt for the birthday child, all in a private party setting. All proceeds benefit the animals and services of the Humane Society of Northeast Georgia. Please call us at (770) 532-6617 or email SThreadgill@HSNEGA.org at least 6 weeks in advance of your child’s birthday for party availability!
 


Humane Birthday Tours

Maybe you cannot enjoy a party at the Humane Society of Northeast Georgia, but that doesn’t mean you’ll miss out on the fun! Have a humane birthday with the animals of the HSNEGA with a 45 minute birthday tour for ages 8 to 14. Birthday tours can be reserved any time during regular adoption hours, and includes a gift for the Birthday child! Pet P.A.L.S. Spring Break Camp


What better way to spend your Spring Break than with the animals of the HSNEGA! Pet P.A.L.S. Spring Break Camp is a wonderful way for kids to learn all about the Humane Society of Northeast Georgia and ways they can help critters of all different shapes and sizes. There will be a variety of humane activities throughout the day including crafts, games, a behind-the-scenes tour and many chances to meet furry, four-legged friends!

Campers’ ages eight to twelve are welcome to join us from 9A.M. to 3P.M. Registration fee is $120 per camper for all three days or $45 for one-day drop ins. Registration fee includes a Pet P.A.L.S. T-shirt, clicker, and craft materials. Please bring a snack, lunch, and drinks daily. Space is limited for this exciting camp! For further information, contact our Community Relations Manager by email at SThreadgill@HSNEGA.org or by calling (770) 532-6617 or complete our REGISTRATION FORM and return it to the shelter. Payment by cash, check, or credit card is required with registration to reserve your child's place in camp. After registration, you will receive a confirmation letter, additional Pet P.A.L.S. Camp details, and a health/waiver form to sign and return.

Pet P.A.L.S. Summer Camps

Think you know everything about our Humane Society? It’s time to put your child’s knowledge to the test for a week of fun adventures, while discovering what life is like at the Humane Society of Northeast Georgia. From hands-on experience with our adoption animals, to a crafts and activities that center around animal themes, this camp is perfect for the child that is interested in working with animals. Campers’ ages seven to twelve are welcome to join us from 9A.M. to 3P.M. Registration fee is $250 per camper and includes a Pet P.A.L.S. T-shirt, clicker, and craft materials. Please bring a snack, lunch, and drinks daily. Space is limited for these exciting camps! Please note: once a camp is listed as FULL, we will no longer accept any more camp registrations, this is to ensure the safety of all our campers. Animal Tales

Join us at the Humane Society for a special story time about animals. This interactive program is geared toward preschool age children and features stories, crafts, animal friends, and more! Every child goes home with a coloring book, bookmark, and a fun pet-related experience. 

Animal Tales take place the second Thursday of the month at 10:30AM. A $2 donation per child is greatly appreciated to support the animals at the Humane Society of Northeast Georgia.
