Humane Education for Teens
Humane Teen Club
The Humane Teen Club is for teens aged 13 to 17 who are interested in learning about animal companionship and volunteer opportunities at the Humane Society of Northeast Georgia before they turn 18. Teen Club members are chosen at the end of the summer and the program runs throughout the school year.
The goals and objectives of the Humane
Teen Club are as follows:
- To develop leadership skills and a service ethic in a non-profit
environment
- To celebrate and explore the power of animal companionship, and
explore the field of animal welfare
- To learn current best practices in companion animal care and training
The Humane Teen Club meets on the first Saturday of each month from October to May and teens learn about animal welfare, animal behavior and training. Space is limited to 20 members who are chosen based on the strength of their application essays. Applications are due by September 11, 2009.
