Adoption Fees and Guidelines

Adoption fees at the Humane Society of Northeast Georgia vary depending on the animal. Listed below are the minimum fees for adopting an animal from HSNEGA. We have more than likely spent considerably more than this amount caring for your new friend while he/she has been with us, and you are certainly welcome to donate more than the minimum fee and help the next homeless pet find their forever home!

To learn more about the animals awaiting adoption, please visit our Adoption Center which is open Monday-Saturday, 10 a.m.- 5 p.m. and Sunday 1-5 p.m.

All dogs, at a minimum, are spayed or neutered, vaccinated against rabies, distemper, parvovirus, and bordatella (kennel cough), heartworm tested and/or started on heartworm preventative medication, microchipped, treated for fleas and ticks, dewormed, and each adoption includes 30 days of free pet insurance premium.

Adult Dog (4 months and older)  $100
Dog Buddies (2 adult dogs or a bonded pair)  $175
Dog Buddies (1 adult dog and 1 puppy)  $225
Puppies (up to 4 months)  $150
 Puppy Buddies (2 puppies)  $275
Adoption Guarantee Fund Dogs & Puppies**  $175-$350

**Adoption Guarantee Fund dogs and puppies are highly adoptable and likely to be adopted very quickly. Their extra fee goes to our Adoption Guarantee Fund which enables us to continue our efforts to find homes for every healthy, adoptable animal in our care no matter how long their stay with us might be.

All cats at minimum are spayed or neutered, vaccinated against feline Rabies, Distemper/Calici/Panleukopenia/Rhinotracheitis, microchipped, blood tested for Feline Leukemia (FeLV) and/or FIV, treated for fleas and ticks, dewormed, and each adoption includes 30 days of free pet insurance premium.

Please note that adoptors must be 18 years of age or older. Adoptors also must havel proper identification, such as a driver’s license, Social Security Card, or other type of suitable identification, in order to adopt.

PLEASE NOTE: It is the policy of HSNEGA that all dogs/puppies go home on a collar & leash and all cats/kittens go home in a secure pet carrier. Adopters are welcome to bring their own collar/leash/carrier, or HSNEGA also has these items available for purchase in our Adoption Center.

The Humane Society often has other companion pets available for adoption, such as rabbits, gerbils, ferrets, and exotic birds. Their adoption fee varies and will be clearly stated on their kennels.
