Adoption Fees and Regulations
The Adoption Fee for animals at the Humane Society of Northeast Georgia typically ranges from $70- $100 per animal. For certain highly desirable animals, the adoption fee may be more. HSNEGA also offers Adoption Fee specials throughout the year where animals may be offered at a reduced fee. Please check our adoption listings for the fee for each animal.
All animals are spayed or neutered before being place for adoption, and the Adoption Fee also covers vaccines and tests appropriate for the age of the animal, including the following:

Adoption Criteria Includes the Following:
- A person adopting an animal must be 18 years of age or older or have a parent or legal guardian present to sign release forms.
- Any person showing signs of intoxication or being under the influence of drugs will be refused an adoption.
- Certain breeds of dogs, including Pitt Bulls, Huskies, Akitas, Rottweilers, or Doberman Pinschers require a fence check and approval from the Humane Society President.
- Chaining or tethering of dogs in backyards is not considered an ideal home situation for our animals, and we would prefer our animals not to go to these homes situations.
- A person adopting an animal must have all proper identification, such as a driver’s license, Social Security Card, or other types of suitable identification.
- The Humane Society of Northeast Georgia strongly discourages the adoption of animals as a surprise gift.
- We will not adopt an animal to anyone with a history of losing his or her animal.
