The Humane Society often has other companion pets available for adoption, like rabbits or gerbils. Their adoption fee varies and will be clearly stated on their cages.
Adoption Criteria Includes the Following:
- A person adopting an animal must be 18 years of age or older or have a parent or legal guardian present to sign release forms.
- Any person showing signs of intoxication or being under the influence of drugs will be refused an adoption.
- Certain breeds of dogs, including Pitt Bulls, Huskies, Akitas, Rottweilers, or Doberman Pinschers require a fence check and approval from the Humane Society President.
- Chaining or tethering of dogs in backyards is not considered an ideal home situation for our animals, and we would prefer our animals not to go to these homes situations.
- A person adopting an animal must have all proper identification, such as a driver’s license, Social Security Card, or other types of suitable identification.
- The Humane Society of Northeast Georgia strongly discourages the adoption of animals as a surprise gift.
- We will not adopt an animal to anyone with a history of losing his or her animal.
