The Humane Society of Northeast Georgia (HSNEGA) has announced it will be holding a “Shelter Stars” Adoption Special from Monday, January 30—Sunday, March 4. During the special, the adoption fee for canines in the HSNEGA Large Dog room and all felines 6 months and older will be $25 each.
“Right after the holidays, adoptions tend to slow down,” says Rick Aiken, HSNEGA President. “Since HSNEGA does not euthanize based on space or duration of stay, we also currently have quite a few adult animals and larger puppies that have been at the shelter for a while, and we are hoping this special will entice people to take a second look at these wonderful yet older animals.”
“Shelter Stars” refers to the fact that adult animals can be a “stellar” choice when choosing to adopt. Adult dogs, in particular, are usually easier to housetrain and past the puppy chewing stage, and you know exactly what size dog you are adopting.
“People come to shelters looking for little puppies and kittens, so these young animals have a much better chance of being adopted than most adults or older puppies,” Aiken continues. “Why not save a life with fewer chances at being adopted?”
All adoptable animals at HSNEGA are current on their vaccinations, dewormed, heartworm tested, up-to-date on heartworm and flea/tick preventative, health-checked, and, most importantly, spayed or neutered.
The Humane Society of Northeast Georgia is open for adoptions Mon.-Sat. from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 1-5 p.m. To see the animals currently available for adoption at HSNEGA, visit www.HSNEGA.org, or for more information, please contact HSNEGA at 770-532-6617.
